Based on a National Stock Exchange (NSE) circular released on Wednesday, two more stocks—Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREA) and Tata Technologies—will enter India's fast-paced futures and options (F&O) segment from the March series.

This comes after the earlier addition announced on January 30 of four stocks: NBCC, Phoenix Mills, Solar Industries, and Torrent Power. Beginning February 28, when the March F&O series starts, traders and investors will have more choices in the futures market with these features.

The February series as it stands right now is scheduled to run out on February 27. Purchasing and selling financial contracts whose values originate from underlying assets such as stocks, indices, currency pairs, or commodities is known as derivatives trading.

Derivatives differ from spot trading in that they do not require direct ownership of securities. Instead, they allow participants to speculate on price movements without holding the underlying asset.

This makes derivatives trading riskier but also offers the potential for higher rewards. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has consistently emphasized the risks associated with futures and options (F&O) trading. Over the years, the regulator has conducted studies and published reports warning investors, particularly retail traders, about the volatility present in the derivatives markets.
