Shri Vilas Sopan Wadekar assumes charge as CMD of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation
Shri Wadekar is an alumnus of Amravati University, where he secured the top rank across all Civil Engineering branches and was awarded three gold medals. He also holds a Master’s degree in Civil-Structural Engineering with first-class distinction.
Shri Vilas Sopan Wadekar has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC), succeeding Shri Subhash Chand Gupta. A 1991 batch Indian Railway Service of Engineers officer, Shri Wadekar brings over three decades of expertise in railway infrastructure and suburban network development to his new leadership role.
Recognized for his exceptional technical expertise, Shri Wadekar was impaneled as a Joint Secretary to the Government of India in 2019. With over 15 years of experience in Mumbai’s suburban railway network, he has played a crucial role in planning and executing large-scale infrastructure projects, including civil, electrical, and signaling works. His leadership is expected to drive MRVC’s mission of modernizing Mumbai’s suburban rail network and enhancing commuter services.
