DMRC achieves Highest-Ever Point near Haiderpur Badli Mor, surpassing previous record

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has achieved an engineering milestone in the Metro Phase-IV Magenta Line Extension (Janakpuri West–R.K. Ashram Marg) corridor by completing the construction of the highest-ever point on the Delhi Metro network near Haiderpur Badli Mor Metro station.

A 490-metre section near the Outer Ring Road crosses over Haiderpur Badli Mor Metro station of the Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli–Millennium City Centre Gurugram) at an impressive rail level height of 28.362 meters at Pier No. 340, making it now the highest point in the DMRC network. This surpasses the previous record of 23.6 meters held by the Phase-III Pink Line at Dhaula Kuan.

Key construction tasks, such as setting up structural reinforcements, casting piers, and installing pre-fabricated components, required careful planning. A crucial part of the project involved building a steel span over the existing operational Yellow Line.

To ensure safety and prevent service disruptions, engineers executed the work in a phased manner. The pier was constructed in three stages, with safety measures in place to protect workers and maintain stability. Since space was restricted, an alternative support system using Macalloy bars was designed instead of traditional ground-based support.

Second-Highest Elevated Stretch Also Completed in Phase IV Magenta Line Extension:

 

DMRC also completed the challenging erection of a 52.288-meter-long steel span at the railway crossing near Haiderpur Badli Mor Metro station, which stands at an impressive height of 27.610 meters.

This second-highest point in the Delhi Metro also required precision due to the narrow space between the Metro viaduct and live railway tracks. With minimal clearance from overhead electrical wires, the installation was carried out using two heavy-duty cranes, each lifting 142-metric-tonne steel girders in segments to ensure accuracy.

 

To minimize disruptions to existing Metro and railway services, construction was planned during non-operational hours at night. This ensured that regular passenger services remained unaffected.

Once operational, the Metro Phase-IV Magenta Line extension will significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time for passengers.
