POWERGRID Committee approves two major investment projects
These strategic investments reflect POWERGRID's commitment to enhancing the reliability and efficiency of its power transmission network.
New Delhi: In a recent meeting held yesterday, 3rd February 2025, the 'Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects' of POWERGRID made crucial decisions regarding the company's future growth and infrastructure enhancements, and announced the approval of two major investment projects.
Creation of 400kV Switchyard and Installation of ICTs at Vataman
The first project involves the creation of a 400kV switchyard along with the installation of two 1500MVA, 765/400kV Interconnecting Transformers (ICTs) at Vataman (AIS). Additionally, two 125MVAr (420kV) Bus Reactors will be installed. This initiative is part of the Transmission System for Offshore Wind Zone Phase-1 (500 MW VGF off the Coast of Gujarat for Subzone B3). With an estimated cost of Rs 319.42 crore, this project is scheduled to be commissioned by 19th February 2026.
Additional Transmission System for Dholera Area
The second approved project focuses on the development of an additional transmission system to provide redundant power supply to the Dholera area. This project, estimated to cost Rs 109.74 crore, is set to be commissioned by 01st March 2026. It aligns with the creation of the 400kV switchyard and the installation of 2x1500 MVA, 765/400kV ICTs at Vataman (AIS) under the "Transmission System for Offshore Wind Zone Phase-1 (500 MW VGF off the Coast of Gujarat for Subzone B3)" scheme.
