State-run NTPC shares are witnessing gains over 1.3% as recently the company has paid an additional Rs 2,424 crore of interim dividend to its shareholders in the financial year ending March 2025. According to a statement from NTPC, this is on top of the Rs 2,424 crore first interim dividend that was paid out in November 2024.

The dividend of Rs 2,424 crore, which was paid out on February 18, represents 25% of the company's paid-up equity share capital.

The final dividend of Rs 3,152 crore for the fiscal year 2023–2024 was paid in September 2024, bringing the total dividend paid by the company throughout the current fiscal year to Rs 8,000 crore.

For the 32nd year in a row, NTPC has distributed dividends. One-fourth of India's power needs are met by NTPC, the largest integrated power utility under the Ministry of Power.

The company now has about 77 GW of installed capacity, and an additional 29.5 GW of capacity, including 9.6 GW of renewable energy capacity, is being built. By 2032, the corporation plans to have 60 GW of renewable energy capacity.
