NTPC Mining Ltd Advances Sustainability with Electric Vehicle Deployment

New Delhi: NTPC Mining Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has taken a significant step towards sustainable and eco-friendly operations by inducting three electric vehicles (EVs) for transportation at its Ranchi-based offices. The initiative aligns with NML's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting green mobility in the coal mining sector.
The newly inducted EV fleet was formally inaugurated by Shri Animesh Jain, CEO, of NML & RED (Coal Mining) by flagging off the 3 EVs in the august presence of Shri Naveen Jain, ED (Coal Mining) in a special ceremony held at Coal Mining Headquarters, Ranchi. The event marked a crucial milestone in NTPC Mining Ltd’s continuous efforts to integrate innovative and sustainable solutions as part of its green initiatives
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Animesh Jain emphasized NTPC Mining Ltd’s dedication to environmental sustainability. "The induction of electric vehicles is a significant step in our mission to transition towards greener alternatives while ensuring seamless transportation at our workplace. We are committed to adopting clean technologies that contribute to a sustainable future," he stated.

The new EVs will be utilized for internal transportation within NTPC Mining Ltd’s offices, reducing dependency on fossil fuels and minimizing environmental impact. This move is expected to enhance efficiency while significantly cutting down carbon emissions and fuel costs. Already, the company, at its flagship mining project Pakri Barwadih has deployed EVs in mining operations along with the installation of Solar Trees that showcase it’s commitment to integrate best-in-class environmental practices in the Indian coal mining sector.
