MCL celebrates Utkal Divas, pays tribute to Odisha rich heritage
The celebrations at MCL were a fitting tribute to Odisha’s glorious culture and traditions, making Utkal Divas a memorable occasion for all.
New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) celebrated Utkal Divas with great enthusiasm at Anand Vihar Ground, MCL on 1st April 2025. The event began with the welcome song, ‘Vande Utkal Janani’, paying tribute to the rich heritage of Odisha. This was followed by the ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp in honor of the great ‘Baraputras’ of Odisha. A welcome address was delivered by A.K. Behura, D(Fin), followed by an inspiring speech from the Guest Speaker, Dr. Prafulla Kumar Mishra.
As a token of appreciation, J.K. Borah, D(T/Op), felicitated Guest Speaker Dr. Prafulla Kumar Mishra and Padma Shri Ileana Citaristi, recognizing their contributions and presence at the event.

The evening was brought to life with a grand cultural program showcasing Odisha’s diverse art forms. The audience was captivated by a mesmerizing Odissi dance performance by Padma Shri Ileana Citaristi and her team, who gracefully depicted the beauty of this classical dance form. This was followed by an energetic Sambalpuri dance presented by the Sambalpur Folk and Tribal Art Centre, Sambalpur, celebrating the folk traditions of the region.
The event also featured a spectacular Gotipua dance performance from Puri, an ancient dance form performed by young boys dressed as female characters.
