IndianOil Bids Farewell to Five Senior Leaders

New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation Limited has bid farewell to five senior leaders whose careers, spanning over three decades each, have played a significant role in strengthening the organisation’s operations, infrastructure, safety culture and customer focus.

Mr. Atanu Sanyal, who served IndianOil for over 36 years, is widely recognised for his technical depth and leadership across refinery operations. As Executive Director and Refinery Head of the Haldia Refinery, he enhanced operational reliability, safety and environmental performance, and oversaw the commissioning of key projects including India’s first Sulphuric Acid Plant, CIDW-II, and a modernised Effluent Treatment Plant. His steady leadership leaves a lasting operational legacy.

Mr. M. Sudhakar led one of the organisation’s largest LPG infrastructure expansion programmes, covering new bottling plants, LPG import terminals and storage facilities across the country. Notably, much of this expansion was delivered during the COVID-19 period, ensuring uninterrupted LPG supplies. He also strengthened contracts, procurement systems and tender standardisation at the national level, creating enduring organisational value.

Mr. Subodh Kumar Bajpai’s career at IndianOil spanned more than three decades across operations, engineering, projects, HR and HSE. He played a key role in commissioning grassroot POL terminals, developing strategic fuel storage for defence forces, advancing retail engineering innovations, and leading SEED, IndianOil’s flagship safety culture initiative. His calm leadership and people-centric mentorship have left a deep imprint on the organisation.

Anchored in safety, operational excellence and resilience, he supported implementation of MB Lal Committee recommendations, strengthened road safety initiatives, commissioned major greenfield projects, managed critical fuel stocking for AWS, and oversaw Southeast Asia’s largest ETP. His leadership ensured supply continuity during civil unrest and swift recovery following natural calamities.

IndianOil expressed its deep appreciation for the contributions of all five leaders and extended its best wishes as they step into the next chapter of their lives, carrying forward a legacy of service to the organisation and the nation.
