Govt to offer VRS to HMT employees

New Delhi.March 15, 2016

The government today said it would come out with a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for the employees of two HMT units at Pinjore, acknowledging that the staffers had not been paid salaries for several months.

Intervening on the issue raised by Kumari Selja of the Congress during zero hour in the Rajya Sabha, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Anant G Geete said the HMT units at Pinjore were in a "crisis" and employees had not been paid salaries.

"We are going to offer the VRS to HMT employees. We have spoken to the employees, who are satisfied," he said, adding that the package would be on the lines of the VRS announced for three other HMT units earlier.
