Govt Backed GNFC signs contract with for 2,00,000-MTPA nitric acid plant
The installation will significantly increase GNFC’s nitric acid production capacity by approximately 57%.

Government-backed GNFC, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Ltd awarded a 2,00,000-MTPA nitric acid plant contract to thyssenkrupp Udhe India for the supply of a 600-million tonne per day (MTPD) (2,00,000-million tonne per annum or MTPA) weak nitric acid-III plant on an LEPC basis.
The agreement came amid the company's board approval on August 13, 2024. The installation will significantly increase GNFC’s nitric acid production capacity by approximately 57%.

According to the filing, subsequent to the Board approval in its meeting held on August 13, 2024, for installation of Weak Nitric Acid-III plant of 600 MTPD capacity, i.e. 2,00,000 MTPA, GNFC had entered into agreement with thyssenkrupp Udhe India Private Limited (TKUIPL) for supply of Weak Nitric Acid-III plant on LEPC basis.
TKUIPL, along with its parent company thyssenkrupp Uhde, will provide process knowhow and licensing for the new plant.
The State owned company currently operates two nitric acid plants licensed by thyssenkrupp Uhde.

"The third plant will enhance the capacity of GNFC by 57% and fulfil the downstream requirement to support the Make in India Campaign with a commitment to environment conservation," the company said.
Shares of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd ended at Rs 497.80, up by 1.34%, on the BSE.
