New Delhi: THDC India Limited has achieved a significant milestone in its 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant (KSTPP) project with the successful inaugural run of its first coal-laden own rake from the company's captive Amelia Coal Mine on January 22, 2026. This development marks a major stride toward ensuring fuel security and uninterrupted operations for the power project.

Strengthening Energy Infrastructure
Shri Sipan Kumar Garg, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited, highlighted that this achievement represents a crucial step in strengthening fuel security and guaranteeing a consistent coal supply for the plant's operations. The coal rake, procured as part of KSTPP’s integrated fuel linkage strategy, was dispatched from the Amelia Coal Mine and received at the KSTPP premises, establishing a reliable and sustainable coal transportation system.

Operational Self-Reliance & Efficiency
Shri Kumar Sharad, Executive Director (Projects), emphasized that the inaugural run underscores KSTPP's commitment to operational self-reliance and efficient resource management. With dedicated railway wagons and coal sourced from THDC's own mine, the project is poised to enhance supply assurance, optimize costs, and support stable power generation. This initiative also aligns with the national objective of strengthening domestic coal utilization and bolstering India's energy security.

The successful movement of the coal rake reflects effective coordination between THDC India Limited and Indian Railways, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and logistical protocols. Senior officials, including Shri BK Sahoo (Chief General Manager, Project), Shri R.M. Dubey (General Manager, Electrical), Shri Sandeep Bhatnagar (General Manager, Finance), and Shri Rakesh Ratan Pathak (Deputy General Manager, Railway Siding), along with representatives from RITES and Steag, were present on the occasion.
