Central government employees finally get a salary boost as DA is hiked by 2%
The last time the Dearness Allowance was lifted from 50% to 53% was in July 2024.

Central government workers will now get a 2% rise in Dearness Allowance (DA) as the Union Cabinet has sanctioned the DA increase from 53% to 55%, and with this change, workers will get a salary boost.
The last time the DA was lifted from 50% to 53% was in July 2024.
A major boost for government workers, a dearness allowance (DA) helps them handle growing inflation. It is supposed to guarantee that rising living expenses do not cause incomes to lose their value. While the Pay Commission establishes fundamental pay every ten years, DA is modified often to match inflation.

The increase in DA will benefit central government employees, pensioners, and family pensioners.
DA rates are determined based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW) data. The government assesses the past six months' figures before deciding on any revision.
The Final decision on the DA hike will be confirmed after a Cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Employees and pensioners can expect updates soon
