Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) celebrated its annual BHEL Day with great enthusiasm, recognizing outstanding employees through the prestigious ‘Excel Awards’. The event was graced by Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, who attended as the Chief Guest and presented the awards.
Key dignitaries at the event included Secretary of Heavy Industries Kamran Rizvi, Joint Secretary Vijay Mittal, BHEL CMD K. Sadashiv Murthy, along with various directors and employees.
In total, 161 employees from 31 teams were awarded in several categories, such as Utkrishthta Puraskar for overall excellence, Anusandhan Puraskar for research and development, and Samaj Seva Puraskar for contributions to society. The award amounts ranged from Rs 35,000 to Rs 2.4 lakh per team, with selections made by an external jury.
H.D. Kumaraswamy praised BHEL for its significant role in nation-building, emphasizing its contributions to energy, infrastructure, and defense, and its support for ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission. Kamran Rizvi commended BHEL for achieving a record order booking of Rs 78,000 crores in 2023-24, despite facing market challenges, and encouraged employees to embrace the Prime Minister’s vision to ‘reform, perform, and transform’.
The celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural program.
