AAI Kolkata making new ATC tower to ease traffic flow
To ensure safety and efficiency in full capacity, a new Advanced Surface Movement Guidance & Control System (ASMGCS) will be put in place, which will enhance the surveillance and provide a bird`s eye view of the entire operational runway.
Kolkata: AAI's Kolkata Airport will be making strides as New ATC Tower with upgraded technology and an enhanced capacity to further ease the traffic flow will be built soon. The construction work of the new ATC Tower and Technical Block will be done at an estimated cost of Rs 458 CR.
Being spread in an area of 2,040 sqm, the new ATC Complex will accommodate all ANS units for efficient air traffic management. Automation & VCS equipment of higher capability with provisioning of more number of Controller Work Positions (CWP) will also be in place.

A centralized UPS system with 100% back-up (1200 kVA for Technical Block & 100 kVA in ATC Tower) will be stationed in the ATC Complex to provide regulated, reliable & uninterrupted power supply for all equipment.
