Shri Madhu Sankunny Nair

Shri Madhu Sankunny Nair assumed the role of Chairman & Managing Director at Cochin Shipyard on January 1, 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Naval Architecture and Ship Building from Cochin University of Science & Technology, where he graduated with first-class honors. Additionally, he earned a Master’s degree in Engineering with a specialization in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Osaka University in Japan. With over 34 years of professional experience at Cochin Shipyard, he has been involved in various aspects of shipyard management. Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing alliances with international technology partners and conceptualizing the Small Ship Division. During his tenure, Cochin Shipyard became a publicly listed company after a successful Initial Public Offering. Under his leadership, CSL is currently undertaking two major expansion projects worth Rs. 2,769 crores and venturing into the inland waterways transport vessel segment by setting up a subsidiary company in Kolkata. Additionally, CSL has formed alliances with major port trusts in India, including Mumbai Port Trust and Kolkata Port Trust.
