In a significant advancement towards boosting freight capabilities and the transportation system in the region, Western Railway has commissioned the first Gati Shakti multimodal cargo terminal for the Mumbai Division at Nardana. This initiative will enhance and provide an environment-friendly mode of infrastructure and transportation for the railway industry.

The Cargo Terminal was commissioned in collaboration with Shirpur Power Pvt. Ltd. (Jindal Power Ltd.) and aims to streamline logistics, reduce transit times, and support the region’s economic growth by integrating various modes of transportation seamlessly.

The Commission of the first Gati Shakti cargo terminal for the Mumbai Division at Nardana marks a significant moment for freight handling systems. The development not only will make the entire process of freight handling seamless and efficient but also enhance the environmental sustainability of the system.

With the commissioning of this Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminal near Nardana, a loading of 2.05 Million Tonne and freight of approx. 374 Crore per annum will be added to the freight pool of the Indian Railway.
