WCL receives 4 National Safety Awards

New Delhi: 4 mines of WCL were awarded the 'Mine Safety Award' in the 'Mine Safety Award 2024' held in Kolkata on 28.07.2024. In the ceremony, Tawa-2 mine of Pathakheda region received the second prize in the category of medium class underground mines. Saoner-2 of Nagpur region received the third prize in the category of small underground mines.

Gondegaon mine of Nagpur region received the third prize in the category of medium class open mines and Ghonsa open mine of Wani North region received the second prize in the category of small open mines.

'Mine Safety Award 2024' was given to the mines doing excellent work on safety parameters in all government and private undertakings working in the coal, metal, oil and gas sector of India. These awards were organized for the first time in the country by Coal India Limited under the aegis of Directorate General of Mine Safety.

The awards were presented by Director General of Mine Safety, Shri Prabhat Kumar at the ceremony. On behalf of WCL, Chairman cum Managing Director Shri J.P. Dwivedi and Director Technical (Operations / Planning & Projects) Shri A.K. Singh received the awards. On this occasion, General Manager Safety & Protection Shri Deepak Revatkar and General Managers of the concerned area, Sub-Regional Managers, Regional Safety Officers and Mine Safety Officers were present with them.

In this connection, on 31.07.2024, Chairman cum Managing Director Shri J.P. Dwivedi addressed the employees at the headquarters. He described these awards as a victory of the dedication and continuous efforts of the employees towards safety. He expressed hope that in future also WCL will keep safety paramount and strictly follow the safety norms.

On this occasion, Director Technical (Operations / Planning & Projects) Shri A.K. Singh congratulated everyone and called upon everyone to make safety a part of their daily routine.

Chief Vigilance Officer Mr. Ajay Madhukar Mhetre and Director (Finance) Mr. Bikram Ghosh were specially present in the program. General Managers, department heads, officers and employees of the headquarters and regions were present on this occasion.
