NEW DELHI- Explosives for mining operations is one of the key inputs. Due to global variables, in last few years the supply of Explosives for coal mining have seen huge up and down swing leading to hampering in production planning and execution.

In order to reduce the supply shocks and overcome supply constraints, WCL with the approval of coal ministry got into an agreement with IOCL for setting up an explosive support plant at Umrer area, for which land was provided on lease from Umrer area to IOCL for 25years in first phase of this project.

Today inauguration ceremony of the explosive support plant developed by IOCL was done at Umrer area by CMD WCL Shri Manoj Kumar along with Shri AK Singh DT(P&P) WCL, in presence of senior Executives from IOCL Shri Abhijit Dey CGM(Marketing), Shri Manish Sinha Ex ED IOCL.

This is a first-of-kind, fully automatic indigenous plant developed by IOCL in Western region of India. This plant has annual production capacity of 30000te SME having per day capacity of 100Te and with expansion 200Te per day. This plant will cater exclusively to Umrer and Nagpur area of WCL.

Today during the ceremony, first despatch of BMD was flagged off to MKD3 during the auspicious hour of the day by the dignitaries present for the occasion. It is pertinent to mention that Ku Sanchiti Ladole first lady officer of IOCL from Mining cadre is posted in the plant.

Shri Diwakar Gokhale AGM Umrer Area coordinated with WCL Hqrs and with the support from higher management ensured execution of this plant within timeline to ensure peak production time from Nov 2022. 

An explosive support plant at Umrer area will help in avoiding production breaks and smooth flow of coal to stakeholders thus leading to energizing of nations' economy.

After the event CMD Shri Kumar also visited MKD1, UOCM, MKD3 along with it he took updates on work on FMC project.
