WAPCOS Project to Benefit 164,000 Fijians

WAPCOS announced the commencement of the Lokia Pipelaying Works in Fiji, a project that will benefit 164,000 residents. The Ground Breaking Ceremony was graced by Hon. Ro Filipe Tuisawau, Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport.

Under the Government of Fiji's initiative, this project managed by WAPCOS, involves the construction of 8.6 km of DN 450HDPE pipelines, ensuring reliable water supply to the community.

This groundbreaking ceremony for the new Water Mains Project in Lokia marked a significant milestone in Fiji's development. Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, emphasized the importance of clean water as a basic human right and highlighted the project's impact on over 164,000 Fijians.

The $17.3 million project, undertaken by Flame Tree Developments - Fiji Ltd, is part of the Rewa River Water Coverage Extension Program. It aims to provide safe, clean drinking water to all Fijians, demonstrating the government's commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.

The project will benefit several areas, including Naselai, Burebasaga Loop, Wainibokasi Hospital, and the southern end of the Rewa Delta. New developments like China Village, Sauniwaqa Subdivisions, and Lokia Road will also have access to improved water supply.

This essential service will address the water challenges that have hindered daily life, health, education, and economic opportunities in these regions.
