THDC and SJVN Foundation inked MoU to establish High-Performance Academy in Uttarakhand
The project, being developed and implemented through the THDCIL-sponsored not-for-profit registered society SEWA-THDC, shall have a duration of 12 months for completion from the date of signing of the MoU.
New Delhi: In a groundbreaking ceremony aimed at revolutionizing Water Sports Development in India, THDC India Limited (THDCIL) and SJVN Foundation (a dedicated Trust of SJVN Limited) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish THDCIL High-Performance Academy in Tehri Power Complex, Uttarakhand. Highlighting the significance of this historic event, Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDC India Limited said that this MoU underlines the commitment to not only provide affordable Power 24 x7 to the Nation but also unleashing the power of Sports Development in the Country in the realization of the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
He stated that Hydro Projects have potential not only to establish new benchmarks in harnessing of Energy but also support to create infrastructure and provide a platform to groom budding athletic talent of the Region and take Water Sports to the Next Horizon thereby making India proud in National and International Sports arena.

Vishnoi added that at the core of this visionary initiative lies the steadfast commitment of THDC India Limited, towards its efforts for holistic National Development, exemplified by the previous orchestration of two National-Level Water Sports events in Tehri, Uttarakhand in the year 2022 and 2023. This momentous initiative signifies a collaborative significant stride towards fostering training and creation of infrastructure of International Standards for Kayaking and Canoeing streams of Water Sports, to enable our Youth to compete at Global Platforms.
Sh. Awadhesh Prasad, GM (SJVN) and Sh. Amardeep, GM (THDCIL) signed this historic MoU at SJVN Office, Delhi in the gracious presence of Smt. Geeta Kapur, CMD, SJVN and Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDC India Limited duly attended by Senior Officers of SJVN and THDC India Limited.

Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) said that with this historic signing of MoU a new chapter of collaborative efforts by Power PSUs has taken shape to nurture talent, promoting sports excellence, and contributing to the holistic development of the nation. With this transformative partnership setting a precedent for corporate synergy in sports infrastructure development, other esteemed Public Sector Undertakings are also joining hands with THDC India Limited in catalysing similar transformative initiatives, propelling India towards sporting excellence and global recognition.
Under this visionary partnership, SJVN Foundation, the CSR wing of SJVN Limited, is extending substantial financial support of Rs 1.00 Crore towards the establishment of a State-of-the-Art Advanced Gymnasium within the Kayaking and Canoeing High-Performance academy being developed by THDC India Limited.
