Tata Power unveils Solar Adoption in Tamil Nadu with Ghar Ghar Solar Initiative

The initiative aims to promote sustainable and affordable solar energy across Tamil Nadu, providing households with the opportunity to embrace clean energy solutions and reduce electricity costs.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has extended its successful ‘Ghar Ghar Solar, Tata Power ke Sang’ initiative to Tamil Nadu, following notable success in states such as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh.

The initiative aims to promote sustainable and affordable solar energy across Tamil Nadu, providing households with the opportunity to embrace clean energy solutions and reduce electricity costs.

The expansion was officially launched at an event in Coimbatore, where Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, along with Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director of TPREL, highlighted the importance of the initiative. With the support of 42 channel partners and comprehensive state-wide coverage, Tata Power is focused on helping Tamil Nadu households transition smoothly to solar energy.

As a state, Tamil Nadu is already a growing hub for renewable energy and has become a key strategic region for Tata Power. The company has more than 240 MW of installed solar capacity across the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors in the state. A major driver behind this expansion is Tata Power’s 4.3 GW Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing Facility in Tirunelveli, which is enhancing domestic production of solar cells and modules, reducing reliance on imports, and advancing India’s renewable energy goals.

“The launch of the #GharGharSolar initiative in Tamil Nadu marks a significant step toward making clean energy affordable and accessible to households,” said Praveer Sinha. “Our goal is to empower homes across the state to reduce their electricity bills by adopting rooftop solar solutions, while also supporting the government’s renewable energy policies.”

Aligned with the government’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Tata Power’s initiative offers significant subsidies to residents looking to install rooftop solar systems.

Homeowners can receive financial assistance of Rs 30,000 for 1kW installations, Rs 60,000 for 2kW, and up to Rs 78,000 for systems ranging from 3 to 10kW, drastically lowering the cost of going solar. In addition to installation subsidies, the initiative includes net metering options that allow households to earn credits for surplus electricity, which can be used to offset future bills, further maximizing savings.
