Shri Dharmendra Pradhan visited the IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur
Burnpur: Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today visited Steel Authority of India Limited’s IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur, one of India’s oldest established steel plant. A full-fledged integrated steel plant, IISCO also has the distinction of having the single-largest blast furnace among all SAIL steel plants in the country.
He overviewed the presentation on the overall performance of Steel Authority of India Limited’s IISCO Steel Plant and briefed about several aspects related to production, efficiency and operational profitability of the plant. Suggested to chalk out ways for cost reduction & 100% capacity utilisation.
"Just like steel adds strength to society, my dear colleagues add their passion and skill to steel making. They are our real brand ambassadors! Catching up with them amidst busy official engagements is always refreshing and satisfying.", he said.
Shri. Pradhan launched ' Mission East ' in the steel sector emphasized Eastern India's development through the construction of integrated steel hub and talked about remarkable increase in the country's steel capacity.
In his plant tour, the minister observed ISCO's blast furnace, bar mill and universal structural mill and Durgapur's Bloom-cum-round-castor and Wheel & Axle plant. The Minister met with staff and emphasized collective efforts to further strengthen the plant's performance. ′′ Several products of these two steel plants are already strengthening 'self-reliant India' by contributing towards import replacement, Mr. Pradhan said. Vocal for Local should be promoted in the same way.
Cell Chairman Mr. Anil Kumar Choudhary, Director of Cell Commerce Mrs. Soma Mandal, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Steel Mr. Punit Kansal, Director of Cell Technology, Projects & Raw Materials Mr. Harinand Rai and C of Isco & Durgapur. E. E. Oh Mr. A. V. Kamlakar and other cell officers were present.
