Devesh Chaturvedi, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has been assigned the additional role of Secretary for the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) by the Indian government.

Currently, he serves as the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare.

Chaturvedi will take on this new responsibility effective immediately and will continue in this position until a regular appointment is made or further instructions are issued.

This decision was approved by the Competent Authority and was communicated in an official notification from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions on March 3.

Chaturvedi is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1989 Uttar Pradesh cadre.

He is an M. Tech. (Industrial Engineering) from IIT, Delhi and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management, IIM, Bengaluru and PhD in Diagnostic Study on Performance Management in Government form IIT, Delhi.

He has extensive experience in agricultural policy and governance. His additional role at DARE is expected to enhance coordination between agricultural research and policy implementation, fostering innovation and growth in India’s agricultural sector.
