Secretary, Coal inaugurates Continuous Miner & Command Centre at WCL

Nagpur: Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, GoI, inaugurated the ‘Continuous Miner’ at Chhatarpur Underground mine, Pathakhera area in Western Coalfields Ltd, virtually in the presence of Shri. Pramod Agrawal, Chairman, CIL who joined the ceremony from Kolkata.
Dr. Jain via video conferencing then inaugurated an ‘Integrated Command & Control Centre’ for e-surveillance at WCL Hq in Nagpur.

In the function, Manoj Kumar, CMD, WCL informed about the present status of Chhatarpur-I underground mine of Pathkheda area and increase in mining process with the use of Continuous Miner. Mentioning the benefits of the new technology, he explained in detail about the use of Integrated Command and Control Center at WCL Headquarters.
In his address during the inaugural function, Dr. Anil Kumar Jain said that underground mining has special significance in Wakoli. Use of latest technology and mechanization is necessary in this direction. He appreciated the effort to adopt Continuous Miner System in Chhatarpur-I underground mine. He also expressed confidence that through the Integrated Command and Control Center located at WCL Headquarters, the current information of mines would be obtained immediately and this would bring transparency and speed in the work.
Chairman, Coal India Limited, Shri Pramod Agarwal in his address said that the demand for coal in the country is increasing continuously. In such a situation, it is necessary to increase underground mining along with open mines to produce coal as per the requirement. He said that mechanization increases the profitability of underground mines. For this purpose, Coal India Limited has planned to install 100 continuous miners by 2030, out of which 20 will be installed in WCL.
In this function, senior officers of Ministry of Coal and Coal India, members of WCL Board joined with Shri Vinod Kumar Tiwari and Shri M. Nagaraju, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal through virtual medium. Directly Director (Personnel) of WCL Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Director Technical (Operations) Shri J. P. Dwivedi, Director Technical (Planning & Projects) Shri A. Of. Singh, CVO Shri Mukesh Kumar Mishra, Steering Committee members, Regional General Managers, Heads of Departments and senior officers were present.
