SECL CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra receives ET Ascent Business Leader of the Year Award

Bilaspur: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra has been honored with the prestigious ET Ascent Business Leader of the Year Award 2022-23. The award was presented at a function held at Hotel Taj Lands End Mumbai yesterday evening. This award is an acknowledgement of Dr. Mishra's forward-thinking leadership under which SECL has been consistently delivering great results. 

It may be noted that under the leadership of Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, SECL is moving towards historic results in the financial year. The company has registered an increase of more than 20 million tons in coal production compared to the same period last year, while with an increase of about 55 million cubic meters in overburden removal (OBR), the company is heading for the highest OB removal in any year since inception.  

In this financial year, SECL dispatched 101.72 million tons of coal to the power sector during April-December 22, which is 10 per cent higher than the previous year and the highest ever dispatch by SECL in the previous period. In calendar year 2022, SECL approved 647 employment in land acquisition cases, which is the highest employment provided by SECL in a year. Under the leadership of Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, the company's profit (unaudited) till the second quarter of FY 22-23 is estimated at Rs 1142.23 crore and it is about 40 percent higher than the same period last year. In the period from January to December, SECL has succeeded in obtaining environmental clearance for six projects from the Environment Ministry. 

Dr. Mishra has launched Mission Nachiketa for skill development of personnel in SECL which emphasizes the need for inculcating the attitude of continuous learning and skill development among officers and employees of SECL. Mr. Ratnesh Srivastava, General Manager (CSR/Welfare) and Mr. Sanish Chandra (Public Relations Officer) were part of the SECL delegation at the event held in Mumbai. On this momentous occasion, SECL Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer and all the employees at SECL congratulated Dr Mishra and conveyed their best wishes.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra has also been given the CMD Leadership Award for his outstanding contribution at the 9th edition of the prestigious Governance Now PSU Awards held in New Delhi on 16.02.2023.
