SECL CMD Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra conferred with prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award
This honor was given in a function organized at ISM Dhanbad today late evening.
New Delhi: SECL CMD Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra has been conferred with the prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award by IIT-ISM Dhanbad. This honor was given in a function organized at ISM Dhanbad yesterday late evening. Mrs. Poonam Mishra, the first lady of SECL family was also present on this occasion.
It may be noted that Mr. Mishra completed his B. Tech (Mining) degree in the year 1987 from the Indian School of Mines. He also earned a PhD in Management from the same institute a few years back.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is given by IIT-ISM to its alumni for exceptional achievements and performance in the mining and mineral sector. The qualifying points for this award include the exceptional and valuable contribution in performance in the mining and mineral sector, effective coordination with stakeholders, promotion of process improvement, leadership and vision, successful implementation of projects, contribution to the service sector beyond general accountability, etc. are prominent. Shri Mishra himself was also the General Secretary of the ISM Alumni Association from 2010-14.
IIT ISM Dhanbad was started in the year 1926 by the then Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin, with the objective of creating trained engineers and workforce for mining activities in the country, while in the year 1967, it was given the status of a university.
Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra has a special identity in the coal industry. His hard working personality, leadership skills, decision making ability, communication style and emphasis on innovation inspire his subordinates. Prior to SECL, he was the CMD, Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) of Coal India, Director, Orissa Mineral Development Company and has served in several subsidiaries of Coal India.
Under the leadership of Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, in this financial year so far, SECL has registered a historic increase of over 20 million tonnes in coal production and over 55 million cubic meters in OBR as compared to the same period last year.
