SAIL-Durgapur Steel Plant observes Gandhi Jayanti

Durgapur: Gandhi Jayanti was observed by Durgapur Steel Plant collectives in the steel township on 2nd October, 2022. Our country is a land of unity in diversity where people of different sects, castes and religions live together as is often reflected in the words of Mahatma Gandhi.

Portraying these feelings of unity in diversity, a Sarva Dharma Prarthana Sabha was organized at Durgapur Club in Durgapur Steel Township on 02.10.2022 to mark the occasion. Shri BP Singh Singh, Director In-charge Burnpur & Durgapur Steel Plant) presided over the program.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were R Muniraju ED (P&A),  Shri S Subbaraj ED (ASP),  Shri K Bhattacharjee ED (MM), Shri Diptendu Ghosh ED (Works) including other senior officials, OA & union forum members and others in large numbers.

The program started with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and offering of floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi by Director In-charge, Shri Singh and other dignitaries present on the occasion. After this poetic recitals and religious songs were presented by members of different religious & socio-cultural organizations of Durgapur, Akhil Bhartiya Sanskritik Parishad, Majlis-E-Millat, Bauddha Samity, Gurudwara Prabandhak Samity, Durgapur United Church and Durgapur Jain Samaj. The program ended with the socio-cultural groups singing ‘Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram’ in chorus.

Director In-charge and other senior officials in the end also garlanded the portrait of Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion and a full-size statue of Mahatma Gandhiji installed at Gandhimore, a prime location in the Durgapur Steel Township.
