RITES emerges as lowest bidder for DPR Contract of Kochi Metro Phase 3

RITES Ltd has emerged as the lowest bidder for the contract to compile a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase 3 of Kochi Metro. Kochi Metro developed as KMRL launched the contract for this consultation job with a 180-day deadline in January 2025.

Planned as a 14-kilometre northern expansion of the current metro route, Line-1 of Kochi Metro currently extends 27.96 km from Aluva to Tripunithura. Passing via Cochin International Airport (COK) at Nedumbassery, this extension will link Aluva to Angamaly.

Route Expansion – The metro will extend from Aluva to Angamaly, integrating the airport into the network.

Current & Future Length – Presently, Kochi Metro’s Line-1 is being developed in multiple phases:

Phase 1, 1A, and 1B have resulted in a functional corridor from Aluva to Tripunithura (27.96 km).

Phase 3 will add 14 km, increasing the total corridor length to approximately 42 km.

The brief scope comprises a request for proposals for consultancy services for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for the Phase III Corridor of Kochi Metro Rail Project from Aluva to Angamaly with airport connectivity.

Built in phases known as 1, 1A, and 1, 1B, the raised Line-1 links Aluva to Tripunithura After Phase 3 ends, the metro line's whole length will be about 42 km.

Furthermore covered in the contract is doing a feasibility study on extending the metro line from Ayyampuzha to Global City. Covering 358 acres, this location is a key component of the development project known as Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (KBIC).
