ONGC sign MoU with GSI to advance geothermal exploration in Ladakh

The India's largest crude oil and natural gas corporation, ONGC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Geological Survey of India to advance geothermal exploration in Ladakh. The agreement was signed on 10 July 2024.

The collaboration will leverage the Geological Survey of India’s expertise in drilling-related studies, and OEC will undertake deep drilling to harness geothermal energy.

This partnership aims to develop geothermal sites in Puga, Chumathang, Nubra Valley, Demchok, and more, contributing to a carbon-neutral Ladakh and putting India on the global geothermal map.
