New Delhi: The Association of City Gas Distribution (CGD) Entities is a not-for-profit company established under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, with the primary mission of promoting and advancing the City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector in India. Founded on December 30, 2020, and headquartered in Delhi, ACE brings together a consortium of visionary entities committed to the advancement of the CGD industry.

The founding members of ACE include Adani Total Gas Ltd, Gujarat Gas Ltd. AG&P Pratham, THINK Gas Distribution Pvt. Ltd., Torrent Gas Private Limited, Megha Gas Distribution Pvt. Ltd., Unison Enviro Pvt. Ltd. (A unit of MGL), Haryana City Gas (KC Enterprise) Pvt. Ltd, and IRM Energy Limited.  The 

Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Shri Subhash Kumar as its Director General. With an illustrious career spanning with about four decades in the energy sector. He has also served as a member of the board of various group companies, including four equity listed companies, ONGC, HPCL, MRPL and Petronet LNG Limited, besides other group unlisted entities. He has been and continues to be closely associated with issues around sustainability and energy transition.

Post superannuation, he was also associated with the Energy Transition Advisory Committee (ETAC) set up by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, GOI. Mr. Kumar was also a member of the CII Net Zero Council for 2022-2023. He has also been a Past President of UNGCNI.

He was also director at ACME Solar Holdings, a company working in renewables space with focus on green hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives. He is also Advisor to Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), helping membership explore options beyond sugar & ethanol and diversifying industry’s product offerings through bio-based energy efficient sustainable adjacencies arising in wake of Energy Transition. He is chairman of Advisory Board, REnergy Dynamics, an entity active in CBG/Biofuel space.

He has articulated his views on a realistic and just transition at various national and internal fora like IEW and CoP28. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the CGD sector continues to play a pivotal role in India's energy landscape, driving sustainable growth and promoting environmental conservation.

His leadership will be instrumental in fostering collaboration among stakeholders, advocating for policy reforms, and driving innovation within the sector.

Shri Subhash Kumar expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Association of CGD Entities, stating, "I am honored to take on the role of Director General and lead the association in its mission to advance the CGD sector. Natural gas is expected to play a crucial role in India's energy transition, and I am committed to working closely with our members and stakeholders to drive innovation, promote best practices, and contribute to the nation's sustainable development goals."
