OIL signed MoU with Digboi Forest Division, Assam Forest Department
New Delhi: Under OIL's CSR project, Vasundhara, an MoU was signed with Digboi Forest Division, Assam Forest Department on Carbon Sequestration and Restoration of degraded forestland in Digboi.
The MoU was signed by Shri Pallab Barman, CGM-FHQ Affairs, OIL & Shri T C Ranjthram, DFO, Digboi Forest Division in the presence of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, IAS, Addl Chief Secretary, Govt of Assam, Shri Prasanta Borkakoty, RCE OIL, officials from OIL & Govt of Assam.
100 hectares of degraded forest area is planned for reforestation by planting 2500 saplings per hectare by Mar 2025. Additionally setting up of a bambusetum & other activities are also planned to reduce dependency on the forest & providing alternate livelihood options.
