NTPC Renewable Energy secures 500 MW Solar Project in SECI Auction
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has secured 500 MW of solar capacity in an e-reverse auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) on December 9, 2024. The auction involved 2000 MW of ISTS-connected Solar PV Power Projects, including a 1000 MW/4000 MWh Energy Storage System (ESS).
NTPC REL won its bid at a tariff of Rs 3.52 per kWh and will establish a 250 MW/1000 MWh ESS alongside the contracted solar capacity as part of the tender requirements. This achievement aligns with NTPC Green Energy’s robust growth trajectory, following its recent successful stock market debut.
As of November 30, 2024, NTPC Group boasts 4.1 GW of operational renewable energy capacity, with nearly 21 GW in development. The company is on track to meet its ambitious target of 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, reinforcing its position as a key player in India’s green energy transition.
