NTPC REL and DPA signed an MoU to establish a green hydrogen fueling station and deploy hydrogen buses at Kandla Port, promoting clean energy.

New Delhi, 8th January 2025: NTPC REL, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) on 7th January 2025 in Gandhidham, Gujarat.

The collaboration focuses on advancing green energy technologies at Kandla Port, with a special emphasis on green hydrogen mobility projects. The MoU was exchanged between Shri Anuj Singh, GM of NTPC REL, and Shri R. Reddy, CME of DPA, in the presence of Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, MLA Ms. Maltiben Maheshwari, and senior officials from both organizations.

As part of the initiative, NGEL will establish a green hydrogen fueling station at Kandla Port, along with the deployment of 11 hydrogen-powered buses for short-haul operations. This project aims to replace fossil fuel buses with clean and sustainable alternatives, contributing to decarbonization and energy security.

NTPC has already demonstrated success with its green hydrogen blending project in Surat, Gujarat, and has launched similar mobility initiatives in Leh, Ladakh, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

In addition, NTPC is developing a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and is targeting 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, integrating energy storage solutions.
