NEW DELHI- 3rd Version of Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM-2023), an NTPC CSR initiative, inaugurated on 30th May, 2023 at NTPC Farakka. Girl Empowerment Mission is an NTPC CSR initiative under which 4 week residential workshop are organized for Girl Child of 10-12 years age of nearby schools. 

The Workshop was inaugurated on 30th May, 2023 by Shri DSGSS Babji, Regional Executive Director, East-I in presence of guest of honour, Smt. D Ratna Kumari, President, Sujata ladies Club, NTPC East-1;  HOP- Farakka — Shri Ramakanta  Panda; Smt Niva Panda, President, Udita ladies Club, NTPC Farakka; Senior executives of NTPC Farakka as well as member and senior functionaries of Udita Ladies Club.

Under the leadership of Shri Ramakanta Panda, HOP Farakka, NTPC Farakka embarks on this ambitious journey of GEM 2023. This year, 118 young girls from West Bengal and Jharkhand, representing 24 schools, joined the program. Scheduled from 29th May to 25th June 2023, GEM 2023 is designed to deliver comprehensive and multidimensional growth to the participating students. 

The inauguration ceremony began with a heartening song by the ULC members, followed by a stirring performance titled 'Sapno ki Udan' by the children of Bal Bhawan. Other standout performances included a 'Save Girl Child' themed dance by ULC, and an exceptional ET batch performance, all of which were met with enthusiastic applause.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri DSGSS Babji expressed his gratitude to the parents of participating girls and emphasized the philosophy of GEM 2023, which is to encourage and nurture the dreams of the 118 girls participating in the program. 

NTPC Farakka is committed to providing a platform for the development and empowerment of young girls, thereby contributing to the overall societal upliftment.
