NLCIL Host valedictory function for Neyveli book fair
The 23rd Neyveli Book Fair came to an end yesterday, 14.07.24, after being inaugurated on 05.07.24.
Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India presided over the valedictory function. Honorable Shri. L. S. Sathyamurthy, Law Secretary, Government of Puducherry attended the event as the special guest. Functional Directors of NLCIL, Shri. Samir Swarup, Shri M. Venkatachalam, CVO Shri Appakannu Govindarajan, Book Fair Secretary, Mr. Hemanth Kumar also participated in the event.

Read Also : Petroleum Minister Shri Puri launches MRPL’s New ProductShri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, delivering his Presidential address, said that the fame of the Neyveli Book Fair had spread far and wide, so much that, the late President of India, Abdul Kalam, on an official visit to Neyveli, had desired to come to Neyveli to attend the Book Fair.
He also said that 10 writers and 10 publishers were honoured while 13 books were released in the last 10 days. He complimented all the persons who worked tirelessly to bring out the intellectual skills of the students through various competitions and make the Book Fair a grand success.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest of the valedictory function of the Book Fair, Hon’ble Shri L.S. Sathyamurthy, Law Secretary, Puducherry Government, said that the country had only five Public Sector Undertakings in the early days of independence while now there were 365 of them, and NLC India was the only Public Sector Undertaking out of these that was conducting a book fair. In that way, the company was unique. He also said that it was amazing to hear that, in the last ten days, three lakh people including students had participated in the book fair. He complimented the Chairman and Directors for playing a pivotal role in conducting the Book Fair which became a source of attraction for the youth who are otherwise buried in social media.

A book 'An Anthology of Recollections” written by Shri K.V. Rajasekhar was released. An e-souvenir was also released on the occasion.
The function was attended by Executive Directors, Senior officials, representatives of recognized trade unions, WIPS, Engineers and Officers’ Associations, Employees, INDCOSERVE & Contract workers, students, teachers and the general public. Shri Hemant Kumar, Executive Director & Secretary of the Book Fair proposed a vote of thanks.
Later, Cultural programmes consisting of Chenda Melam by a popular Kerala team and a juggling show by Shri Vidhakar Prasanth enthralled the audience.
