NLC India presents Anti-Retroviral Treatment Drugs for HIV to TANSACS
NLC India Limited, as a socially responsible CPSE,came forward for procuring Life-savingART drugs under its CSR initiative.
New Delhi: As a part of National AIDS Control Program, 1.23 lakh People living with HIV (PLHIV) are being provided with lifelong Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) drugs at free of cost. Due to sudden crisis in the procurement of ART drugs across the country and considering the emergency situation, NLC India Limited, as a socially responsible CPSE,came forward for procuring Life-savingART drugs under its CSR initiative.
Based on the request from the Project Director and the Member Secretary of TANSACS, Shri. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NLC India Limited, had immediately approved for the purchase of 50,000 units of Life-saving ART drugs. Dr.C. Dharini Mouli, General Superintendent/Medical (i/c) of NLC India Hospital handed over the Life-Saving ART drugs to Mr.Swaminathan, Tech.Support/TANSACS on 10.09.2022.Helping PLHIV is not new to NLCIL, as NLCIL is already providing nutritious food to PLHIV under ‘POSHAK’ scheme.
The Tamilnadu Aids Control Society (TANSACS) has been implementing the HIV/AIDS prevention to care continuum of activities in the state of Tamilnadu. As per the latest HIV sentinel survey, Tamil Nadu has a prevalence of 0.18% of the population, which is below the National prevalence of 0.22%. As a part of National AIDS control program, around 1.23 lakh PLHIV are enrolled for Anti-Retroviral Treatment in the state of Tamilnadu.
