NHDC, a subsidiary of NHPC Limited, has announced the full commissioning of the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Plant (FSPV), Unit-D. The plant, with a capacity of 88 megawatts, is located in the reservoir of the Omkareshwar project in Madhya Pradesh. The company’s filing with the BSE revealed that the plant was successfully commissioned on October 29, 2024.

The plant, which was completed for Rs 589.16 crore, has an annual generation capacity of 204.58 million units. The projected annual revenue from the project is around Rs 65.87 crore.

The company had previously reported a significant loss of around Rs 327.67 crore due to a major landslide in Sikkim that affected its 510-megawatt Teesta-V Power Station.

Currently, in order to boost its renewable energy portfolio, NHPC has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Rajasthan on September 30, 2024.

The MoU, which involves an estimated investment of around Rs 50,000 crores, includes plans for the development of Pumped Storage Projects, Renewable Energy (Solar/ Floating Solar/ Wind) Projects, and Battery Energy Storage Systems in Rajasthan.
