Fastest 200 Million Cubic Meters of Overburden Removal Milestone Achieved in a Financial Year

Nagpur: NCL (Northern Coalfields Limited) has achieved another historic milestone by removing 200 million cubic meters (Mm3) of overburden in the fastest time ever in a financial year. The feat was achieved on August 24, 2023, while it was on 22nd September in FY 2022-23.

The overburden is the material that lies above the coal seam and needs to be removed to access the coal. The faster the overburden is removed, the sooner the coal can be extracted and made available for use.
