Shri M. Venkatachalam takes charge as Director (Power) of NLCIL
NEW DELHI- Shri M. Venkatachalam took charge as Director (Power), NLC India Limited, on 26th April, 2023.Prior to joining NLC India Limited, Shri Venkatachalam was serving as Executive Director at Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and possesses 35 years of rich experience in Nuclear Station operations, project construction & commissioning, versatile site activities and corporate functions.
He is a Mechanical Engineer from University of Madras and a distinguished scientist, an apex Scientific Grade from Department of Atomic Energy. He has specialisations in diverse fields and has acquired several qualifications, notably in project management and finance. He has also undergone the Corporate Governance course for Directors conducted by Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.

He is the 31st batch of BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) Training School. After successful completion of training he joined Madras Atomic Power Station in 1988 and held wide ranging positions such as Field Engineer, Control Engineer, Assistant Shift-in-Charge Engineer, Shift charge Engineer, Operations Superintendent and Chief Superintendent.
In 2017, he was transferred to Kakrapar Atomic Power Project as Station Director and commissioned the first indigenous 700 MW nuclear power plant, and subsequently took over as Site Director of Kakrapar Gujarat Atomic Power. Later, he was transferred to Headquarters as Executive Director, to look after the overall corporate functions.

Apart from erection and commissioning of the first 700 MW Unit, KAPP-3, he has conceptualised major up-gradation and life extension activities of the Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), Kalpakkam. He carries the distinction of being an identified World Association Nuclear Operators (WANO) expert and a recipient of several awards such as the prestigious NPCIL Excellence award, meritorious group awards and a special reward for an unique activity.
With his vast experience in the power sector, it is expected that he will propel NLCIL to greater heights.
