SAIL- RSP observed Steel Safety day on 28th March 2022. Director In-charge, Mr. Bhowmick congratulated the winners of various competitions and commended the efforts of Safety Engineering Department in consolidating and strengthening the safety initiatives.

Rourkela, Odisha: Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), observed Steel Safety day on 28th March 2022. Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-charge, was the Chief Guest in the programme organised at the HRD Centre. Present on the dais were Mr. Bibhu Prasad, Deputy Director (Factories and Boilers), Government of Odisha, Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED(Works), and Mr. Aseem Kumar Behera, CGM (Safety & Fire Services). Chief General Managers, HODs, Departmental Safety Officers, Senior Officers of the Plant, and the winners of the competitions were present at the function
Addressing the gathering Mr. Bhowmick congratulated the winners of various competitions and commended the efforts of the Safety Engineering Department in consolidating and strengthening the safety initiatives. He exhorted all to look into the various aspects of the production of safe steel and strengthening of the safety net in the organization.

He emphasized and urged all to adhere to safe practices on a day-to-day basis.
Drawing everyone’s attention to the common causes of accidents in an industry Mr. Bibhu Prasad emphasized that safety is integral to every aspect of life and the workplace. He encouraged the use of simple language for a smooth flow of safety instructions.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. S R Suryawanshi said that “Ghar Se, Ghar Tak” should be our safety mantra. He emphasized on practicing safety at all times and urged everyone to adhere to the SOPs and SMPs to achieve the objective of zero accidents.
The programme began with the screening of a safety video film and the rendition of a safety award-winning song by Mr. H S Pothal, Senior Technician (Oxygen Plant), and his team. Thereafter Safety Pledge was administered to all in Odia, Hindi, and English.
The dignitaries presented prizes to the winners of the various competitions held during National Safety week, such as Quiz, and Debate competitions for both regular and contractual employees, safety songs for regular employees. Best Agency Safety Officers, Departmental Safety Officers were also awarded along with Recognition to Doctors of OHSC and awards to the employees of Safety Skits. The Judges of various competitions were also felicitated.
At the outset, Mr. Aseem Kumar Behera delivered the welcome address. Mr. S C Mohanty, GM Incharge (Safety & Fire Services) proposed a formal vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Mr. Nilakantha Sethi, Assistant Manager (Safety).
