Jai Prakash Dwivedi Assumes Additional Charge as SECL CMD
J P Dwivedi reached the headquarters Bilaspur today and assumed charge.
New Delhi: Jai Prakash Dwivedi, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Western Coalfields Limited Nagpur has been given additional charge of SECL CMD. The Ministry of Coal issued the order, and he will continue to serve as the CMD of SECL until a permanent CMD is appointed.
J P Dwivedi reached the headquarters in Bilaspur today and assumed charge. On his arrival at the headquarters, he was welcomed by the Functional Directors, CVO and Heads of Departments and a Guard of Honour was also given by the security contingent. He held a meeting of Area General Managers and Heads of Departments at the headquarters today.

Jai Prakash Dwivedi is currently the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of WCL. Prior to this, he was working as Director (Technical) of WCL. Besides, he is also holding the position of Govt. of India Nominee Director on the Board of Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
Dwivedi has over 3 decades of experience in the coal industry which includes working experience in operating mega level opencast as well as underground coal mines in various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited.
He started his career in Coal India Limited as a Mining Engineer in 1986 after completing his graduation in Mining Engineering from IIT-BHU, Varanasi. He has served in various capacities for 28 years in SECL, 4 years in ECL and 3 years in NCL.

He completed PG Diploma in Marketing Management in 1999 and has attended various training programmes in India and abroad such as Advanced Management Training on Automation Systems in Russia, Development-oriented Leadership in Emerging Global Environment in China and France, Implementation of Continuous Miner Technology in South Africa and World’s premier Mineral Exploration and Mining Conference in Toronto, Canada.
He has vast experience in all types of coal mining technologies, modern techniques like Longwall Mining, Continuous Miners in opencast and underground mines as well as caving and stowing methods in conventional underground mines.
He has been instrumental in introduction of Continuous Miners (CM) in Jhanjra underground mines of ECL. His efforts have been recognised at various forums and he has been awarded 'Best Engineer Award' by Institution of Engineers and Best Area General Manager - Individual Excellence Award by CIL.
