IRCON has set a new benchmark in Indian rail technology with the installation of the country’s first Rigid Overhead Catenary System (ROCS), capable of supporting speeds of up to 180 km/h.

The ROCS has been installed in twin tunnels covering a total of 12 track kilometers along the Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar stretch of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

This innovative system is not only a first for India but also represents a leap forward in rail electrification, designed to enhance the operational efficiency of high-speed trains. The system is fully operational for speeds of 160 km/h, ensuring smooth and safe transit in the twin tunnel sections.
