Free Travel During Maha Kumbh Mela? Indian Railways Clarifies...

Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: As per the recent statement of Indian Railways on free travel in trains spreads widely notes that there will be no free of-cost travel during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. The rumours which have been spread by some media outlets state that travel is free but the Indian Railways denies these reports, as they are entirely baseless and misleading.

It is also mentioned by the Indian Railways that, traveling without a valid ticket is strictly prohibited under the rules and regulations of Indian Railways and constitutes a punishable offense. There are no provisions for free travel during Maha Kumbh Mela or any other occasion. 

"Indian Railways is committed to ensuring seamless travel for passengers during the Maha Kumbh Mela. Adequate arrangements are being made, including the establishment of special holding areas, additional ticket counters, and other necessary facilities to manage the anticipated influx of passengers."

When and Where Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is happening?

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is going to start from 13 January - 26 February. The Maha Kumbh Mela which attracts the world’s largest public gathering primarily, includes Ascetics, Saints, Sadhus, Sadhvis, Kalpvasis and Pilgrims from all walks of life.

The Kumbh Mela is celebrated four times over the course of 12 years has a geographical location spans over four locations in India and the Mela site keeps rotating between one of the four pilgrimages on four sacred rivers Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik.
