The Indian Army has achieved a significant milestone in its modernization efforts with the successful overhaul of the T-90 Bhishma tank. The Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) carried out the overhaul at the 505 Army Base Workshop in Delhi Cantonment.

The overhaul, part of the Army's "Decade of Transformation" initiative, was witnessed by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff.

He praised the EME technicians and officers for their skill and dedication in reviving the T-90, a key battle tank in India’s mechanized forces since 2003.

The process involved a complete disassembly of the tank, stripping it down to its smallest parts. More than 200 assemblies and sub-assemblies were carefully removed, rebuilt, and tested using state-of-the-art equipment provided by the tank’s original manufacturer, according to the official statement issued by the Army.

After thorough testing, the tank was reassembled and deemed ready for all-terrain operations. This overhaul not only extends the life of the T-90 but also highlights India’s ability to maintain and upgrade its critical defense platforms without relying on foreign support.

General Dwivedi emphasized the importance of continued innovation and skill development, as the Army pushes forward with its transformation plans.
