India attaches high priority to a multi-dimensional & comprehensive partnership with Iraq & is the 2nd largest trade partner of Iraq with annual trade worth US$ 37 billion.

New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri headed the Indian delegation at the 18th meeting of the India-Iraq Joint Commission for Economic & Technical Cooperation with an Iraqi delegation headed by HE Mr Hayan Abdul Ghani Abdul Zahra Al Sawad, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Oil of the Republic of Iraq.

India’s annual hydrocarbon purchase is one billion barrels. We discussed ways to ramp this up.
Today India is the world’s 3rd largest energy consumer, 3rd largest consumer of Oil, 3rd Largest LPG Consumer, 4th largest LNG importer, 4th largest refiner & 4th largest automobile market in the world. India will continue to be one of the largest demand centres for energy resources.
