FSIB to interview CEO candidates for four PSU banks
The government agency responsible for selecting candidates for senior positions at public sector financial institutions will conduct interviews later this week for the role of managing director and chief executive at four banks, including Indian Bank.
This move aims to resolve the disagreement between the finance ministry and the central bank regarding the appointment of Asheesh Pandey, the executive director of Bank of Maharashtra, who was a candidate for the top position at the Chennai-based bank.
The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) will interview eligible executive directors for the top roles at the Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Central Bank of India, and Punjab & Sind Bank, according to sources.
In April, the FSIB announced that Pandey had been shortlisted for the position at Indian Bank. However, shortly thereafter, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) provided its feedback to the finance ministry.
The current managing director of Indian Bank, Shanti Lal Jain, is set to complete his term on December 31.
