EIL and Mongol Refinery have achieved a major milestone in the 1.5 MMTPA grassroot refinery project in Sainshand, Mongolia, with the completion of the hydrotest of the first section of the raw water pipeline.

NEW DELHI- Team EIL along with Team mongol refinery have achieved a key milestone at the 1.5 MMTPA grassroot refinery project being set up in Sainshand, Mongolia. The Hydrotest of the first section of the Raw Water Pipeline for the refinery project was completed with Raw Water sourced from 11 aquifers at Bor-Khuuvur, which are connected by pipelines with a cumulative length of 85.3 km and laid at a depth of 4.0 m.
The 1.5 MMTPA grassroot refinery project being set up in Sainshand, Mongolia is a new refinery project aimed at increasing Mongolia's refining capacity and reducing its dependence on imported petroleum products. The project is a joint venture between Mongol Refinery LLC and Sinopec Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. (SEG), with Engineers India Limited (EIL) providing project management consultancy (PMC) services.

The project is expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to the economic development of the region.
This project is a major milestone in the relationship between India and Mongolia and its strategic partner in this part of the world and is expected to touch all aspects of economic activities in Mongolia and boost its economy.
