Eastern Railways recorded highest ever freight loading

Eastern Railway recently announced a historic milestone in its operations, achieving the highest-ever freight loading in its esteemed history. With an astounding 85.65 million tonnes of freight loaded in the current financial year of 2023-24, Eastern Railway has surpassed its previous record of 78.73 million tonnes of last financial year 2022-23, showcasing an impressive growth trajectory and unwavering commitment to excellence.

This remarkable achievement underscores Eastern Railway's resilience and dedication to meeting the evolving demands of the freight industry.

Despite its reputation as a passenger-centric railway, Eastern Railway has demonstrated exceptional prowess in freight transportation, setting a new benchmark for efficiency and productivity.

Shri R. Meena, Principal Chief Operations Manager of Eastern Railway, emphasized the railway's commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. Through initiatives such as the Gati Shakti project and the establishment of new freight terminals, Eastern Railway has expanded its operational capabilities and enhanced its capacity to serve the growing needs of the freight industry.
