Deputy Director General of Ministry of Coal, Smt. Santosh was on a two-day visit to Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). On the first day of her visit, dated 15.07.2024, she visited the Vani area. Here she inspected the work of boom barriers and IT undertakings of Niljai sub-area and gave her important suggestions in this direction. Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre and Regional General Manager of Vani, Shri Abhas Chandra Singh and other senior officers were present with her.

On the second day of her visit, dated 16.07.2024, she reviewed the performance, CSR activities and vigilance-related issues of Western Coalfields Limited at the headquarters. During this, in her address, she expressed confidence that WCL will definitely achieve the target of CSR etc. along with its coal production and dispatch.

In the review meeting, CMD Shri J P Dwivedi gave information about the current status of WCL, mining activities and CSR work etc. and explained in detail about the future plans of WCL. Director (Finance) Shri Bikram Ghosh, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, and General Managers/Department Heads of Headquarters were present in the meeting.

Before the review meeting, Mrs. Santosh met and interacted with the children undergoing training under Project-TARAASH (Talent Amplification of Rural Youth through Aggressive Skill Hunt) implemented under the CSR of WCL. These children are undergoing training for IIT-JEE and NEET examinations for a period of two years at the Aakash-Byju Center in Nagpur under Project-TARAASH.

Mrs. Santosh praised Project-TARAASH and motivated the students to keep working towards their goals. On this occasion, she also visited the students' hostel and reviewed the facilities being provided to them.

After this, on arrival at WCL headquarters, Mrs. Santosh inspected the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) for e-surveillance established at the headquarters. While praising ICCC, she said that this initiative of WCL is also being adopted in other subsidiary companies of Coal India Limited.
