CONCOR and ITE Japan sign MoU for green cold chain logistics solution
Trials of this innovative technology have already been successfully conducted, paving the way for more environmentally friendly logistics solutions.
In a collaborative effort to boost innovation in sustainable cold chain logistics, CONCOR teamed up with ITE Japan to unveil the ice battery technology-fitted containers. For this, CONCOR signed an MoU to utilize ITE’s patented ‘Ice Battery technology’ in containers for temperature-sensitive cargo. Trials of this innovative technology have already been successfully conducted, paving the way for more environmentally friendly logistics solutions.
Recently, Mr. Sanjay Swarup, CMD of CONCOR, met Mrs. Jaya Varma Sinha, Chairman & CEO of Railway Board, along with Mr. Masanori Nagaya, Director-M/s Innovation Thru Energy (ITE), Japan, and apprised her of innovative cold chain logistics solutions using ITE’s patented ‘Ice Battery technology’ that has been adopted by CONCOR.

Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) joined forces with Innovation Thru Energy (ITE), Japan to explore green logistics solutions, using ITE’s patented ‘Ice Battery technology’, this unique passive cooling technology does not require a diesel-based DG set for maintaining a cold chain during transportation.
Thus, it is an important step towards providing an environmentally friendly cold chain logistics solution. Also, the technology maintains the required humidity and freshness for up to 72 hours- ideal for temperature-sensitive products.
The partnership for sustainable cold chain logistics highlights the efforts being made by CONCOR and Indian Railways to develop and foster innovation in the cold chain logistics sector to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of the railways in carrying out cold chain logistics operations efficiently and sustainably.
